The Department of Occupational and Environmental Health Sciences was established in 2000 through the merger of the Department of Occupational Health (founded in 1954), the Department of Environmental Health (founded in 1950), and the Department of Sanitary Chemistry (founded in 1981). This department is dedicated to teaching, training, and conducting scientific research on the impacts of environmental factors, including occupational factors, on public health. It aims to cultivate Master’s and PhD students, provide research and professional development opportunities for postdoctoral researchers and various public health professionals, and engage in community service related to its specialties. The current chair of the department is Professor Guang Jia.
